Photo Restoration FAQ

Q. How long does the process take?
A. Normally within 10 days. If you have a deadline let us know.  A 50% surcharge is made for next day delivery

Q. Is there a minimum order?
A. No.

Q. Is postage included?
A. For orders under £30 postage is £2.50.   Orders above £31 postage is free by Royal Mail first class service.  Delivery of digital files by email is free.

Q. Do you damage, or work on the original photo?
A. No.  Your images are safe with us.  Your original will be returned to you in the same condition.  We only work on a digital file scanned from your photo.

Q. Will your pictures fade?
A. Not for 150 years according to the print paper manufacturer. (Fuji)

Q. What media do you work with?
A. We can restore from B&W, colour photos, prints or negatives.

Q. What size print can you restore?
A. The standard price list is for images up to A4.  We are happy to quote for larger sizes

Q. What sizes can you print?
A. Any size you require.

Q. Can you enlarge a part of a picture?
A. Yes, but some media i.e. newsprint, is not suitable for enlarging, and with photo’s there is a limit depending on the quality of the original.  We can advise.

Q. Will my original picture be safe?
A. Yes. Once scanned we only work with the digital file.  If you wish, we can store your original and the restored photo's onto DVD

Q. Can you only work with prints?
A. No.  We can restore from prints, negatives, colour or black and white, and from scanned images that you supply.

Q. Can you improve the sharpness of my pictures?
A. Sometimes, but there is a limit.  Blurred photo's that show camera shake normally can't be improved.

Q. Can I email photographs to you?
A. Yes.  Remember that the quality must be good.  Large file sizes can be sent using www.YouSendIt.com

Q. Can you replace missing parts of a picture?
A. Yes.  In many cases we can repair or replace bits.  It's not unheard of to be asked to remove a body!

Q. Is there a choice of paper finishes?
A. Yes. Your free print is Gloss, but you may have it in matte if you ask at the time of ordering.

Q. Can you do photomontages?
A. Yes. Tell us what you want.

Q. What file type’s can you accept?
A. You can send us files in these formats.    *.jpg    *.tiff     *.psd  

Q. How do you work out what to charge?
A. We listen to what you want, and base our prices on our experience of how much work is involved.
